Indore MP Shankar Lalwani on Thursday urged the Centre to investigate the “role of chief minister Kamal Nath” in the
1984 anti-Sikh riots.
“We all know and have learnt from media that he (
Kamal Nath’s) had a role in the matter (1984 anti-Sikh riots) and it should be investigated. I will approach the home minister to consider the demands raised by
Sikh community for a probe against the CM and take appropriate action on the basis of its findings,” Lalwani said after a delegation of Sikhs and local BJP leaders handed him a memorandum.
Lalwani said he will ask the Centre to take action against those “found guilty in the 1984 riots but are now out of jail” and probe other suspects whose name had surfaced in the case. “We will also urge the home minister to provide compensation to affected families, if any have been left out,” he said.
