Indian scientist gets elected to prestigious science body in UK

HYDERABAD: An Indian chartered pharmaceutical scientist from Suryapet, Telangana Dr Shashi Ravi Suman Rudrangi, who is working in the Research and Development wing of Bristol Laboratories Limited, United Kingdom has been elected to the committee in the Formulation Science and Technology Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the world’s oldest chemical society.
The 177-year-old Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is the world’s leading chemistry community, advancing excellence in the chemical sciences.
With over 54,000 members and an international publishing and knowledge business, RSC invests in educating future generations of scientists, promoting collaboration and innovation.
The Formulation Science and Technology Group (FSTG) is a subject group of the Royal Society of Chemistry. he group contributes to promote innovation and raises awareness of developments for the benefit of the scientific community. The FSTG is chaired by Dr. Simon Gibbon, an internationally renowned formulation scientist.
Expressing happiness over his election as committee member, 31-year-old Dr Rudrangi said he had joined RSC-FSTG because of the excellent opportunities the group provides to network with fellow scientists and to extend his sphere of learning. “I will be committed to support the FSTG in strengthening the formulation sciences,” he said.
Dr Rudrangi pursued his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Kakatiya University, in Warangal in 2008, and his master’s and PhD degrees in Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Greenwich, UK in 2010 and 2015, respectively. He was recently been awarded the ‘Chartered Scientist’ status by the prestigious Science Council and Royal Society of Chemistry. He has been awarded with international awards in the United States of America, Germany and Netherlands for his pharmaceutical research and received several grants to present his work at leading international conferences throughout the world. He previously served the Student Charter of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences Great Britain in various capacities from Committee Member to co-chair to Chairperson from 2013-2015.
