AIPAC was inaugurated by Bengal Governor

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the 8th All India Police Archery Championship (AIPAC) organised by Sahastra Seema Bal, Siliguri at the Frontier Headquarters on Monday.

SILIGURI: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the 8th All India Police Archery Championship (AIPAC) organised by Sahastra Seema Bal, Siliguri at the Frontier Headquarters on Monday. Inspector General, Frontier Headquarters, SSB, Shrikumar Bandopadhyay received Governor Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar at the airport and escorted them to the programme venue.
333 archers from all over the country are participating in the championship.

Governor Dhankhar expressed happiness that the 8th AIPAC was being held in the state of West Bengal. The Mascot of the event is Haloom - Royal Bengal Tiger.
The championship will continue till November 23. Governor Dhankhar complimented Arjun Award winner Chekrovolu Swuro of Nagaland Police for participating in the championship.
Governor Dhankhar recalled the feats of Arjun in the field of archery. He called upon the participants to participate in the best traditions of sportsmanship. He expressed hope that Tista Stadium at Siliguri will see many new milestones and new benchmarks will be set.
Governor Dhankhar said that archery in India is considered to be one of the most ancient sports. In the two most popular Indian epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana, the game of archery was described quite extensively. All the principal characters of these two epics were described as great warriors of archery.
Governor Dhankhar noted that since 1961, Arjuna Awards are given in recognition of the legendary feats of Arjun and that as regards Archery India can take pride it is home of archery since ages.
