THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Sports Authority of India, Special Area Games (SAG) centre, at Andrott, in
Lakshadweep was inaugurated by Administrator Farooq Khan on Wednesday. Neelam Kapur IIS, Director General, Sports Authority of India, presided over the function.

SAI LNCPE, Trivandrum & Director SAI LNCPE, Region, Thasleena M P,Chairman (VDP), Andrott were also present on the occasion.
This is the 12th SAI sub centre and the 4th
SAG centre under SAI LNCPE region.
SAI has established a
Special Area Games Centre at Andrott Island, in Lakshadweep with the twin objectives of broad-basing of sports and achieving excellence in sports at the national and international levels.
The centre will focus on football and athletics for residential scheme and the feasibility study for commencing volleyball as a day boarding scheme has been undertaken. The selection trials for induction have already been completed and it has been proposed to take both boys and girls in the residential scheme.
