Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, is back in the news, and all for a good reason. A mini roadside library in Aizawl is winning the hearts of netizens, with pictures of it going viral on social media recently.

It came to fore when an IFS officer tweeted a photo of the library and wrote, “Now this is what every city must copy. Mizoram’s capital Aizawl has a couple of these tiny roadside libraries. Libraries are the best investment for nation-building. Northeast showing the way”.
This roadside library encourages reading habits and also helps in strengthening the communities by providing access to exchange free books. Therefore, as per the initiative, one can take a book for free in exchange for a used book if they want. There is no security as such to keep a check on them, and it is expected that people follow the rules and return the books after reading.

Book lovers are already gaga about this concept, as this might be able to inculcate the habit of reading in people. Although this concept has been followed by a number of people, and they have also set up free libraries in their communities, like the open library in Pune, this new roadside library in Aizawl has been applauded nonetheless.

While many commented that libraries such as this will be helpful for paving a better future, some also opined that other cities also need to replicate the same.

What do you think about this concept? Leave your comments below and share if you feel your city should also get one.
