Celebrate Cherry Blossom Festival in Shillong this year


We have all heard about Cherry Blossom Festival of Japan, but did you know that there is a Cherry Blossom Shillong edition as well? The Meghalayan city is known for its astounding beauty, and this is perhaps the best time to visit so that you can experience one of the more remarkably unique festivals of India.
This year, Shillong is celebrating 4th India International Cherry Blossom Festival, and will showcase this unique autumnal flower. The festival is going to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, from November 13 to November 16, 2019. Besides the beautiful flowers, you can also be a part of a bunch of other events. The cherry trees here in Meghalaya come a little earlier than the ones in Japan, but it does spread its charms once it is here, no less than its more famous Japanese counterparts.The trees spread their pink hue all across the state, inviting travellers for an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Celebrate Cherry Blossom Festival in Shillong this year


Here in Shillong, the festival is being held across different venues - Polo 5th Ground; State Convention Centre; Golf Course; JN Stadium; and Indoor Stadium Polo. There is a plethora of activities lined up, some of which are really unique to the country, such as Japanese cosplay competition. You have some great things lined up, such as dance shows, music, beauty pageant, Korean barbeque, K-Pop music, and more. Of course, this is also your chance to explore the Meghalayan culture, and to that effect, there will be stalls with local food, wine, and handicrafts. There would also be bicycle rallies, and storytelling sessions, so the experience is really going to enrich you as a traveller.

Shillong’s only airport is in Umroi, which is 30 km away, but of course there is Guwahati that is the busiest in the seven sister states, and also very well connected. It only takes 3 hours to reach Shillong from Guwahati.
