Himachal Pradesh Government’s newest drive
Horn Not Ok has started from today, which is basically to spread awareness on noise pollution. Be careful if you are visiting Himachal Pradesh during this time, as you might find yourself paying a hefty amount as fine.
During the awareness drive, the Department of Environment, Science and Technology will organise a series of events in tourist resorts of
Shimla and
Manali till November 20. Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur, launched this campaign in August last year with the motive of spreading awareness among common citizens, and tourists about severe effects of noise pollution.
Referring to this development, Environment and Technology Director D.C. Rana said that the awareness campaign would also be organised among school children by delivering them lectures during the morning assembly, and also by encouraging them/assigning them the duty to affix stickers of
Horn Not Ok on their parent’s cars.
Further, there are other activities lined up to spread this awareness campaign, such as organising debate, painting, declaration, essay writing on noise pollution theme. The director also assured that the traffic police have been directed to impose fines in Shimla for use of pressure horns and unnecessary honking.
