Manipur gears up to host Tunisian Film Festival from tomorrow

Manipur is all set to host Tunisian Film Festival 2019 from tomorrow. As per the Film Society of Manipur (FSM), the two-day fest will be held at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSDFS) Auditorium in Imphal on Saturday and Sunday. Art and Culture Commissioner, M Lakshmikumar Singh will be inaugurating the film festival in Imphal on Saturday afternoon.

During this two-day film festival, six contemporary and award-winning feature films from North America will be showcased. The said festival is being organised jointly by the Federation of Film Societies of India, and FSM, with the support of MSDFS, and Tunisian Embassy in New Delhi.

Films that will be screened on the first day will include—Mostafa by Director Nidhal Chatt, PortoFarina by Director Ibrahim Letairf, and Shattered Waves by Director Habib Nestiri.

Further, films that will be screened on Sunday include—Sweet Smell of Spring by Director Ferid Boughedir, Whispering Sands by Director Nacer Khmir, and Visit by Director Nawfel Sahed, Ettabaa.

All the films that will be screened on both the days will carry English subtitles. As per latest reports, on Sunday, Dr I S Kangjam, who is the president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, will be initiating an interaction session for the film—Whispering Sands directed by Nacer Khmir.

The Federation of Film Societies in India is hosting Tunisian Film Festival in different cities across the country, such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, and some other places that propagate Tunisian film culture.
