Mizoram is one gorgeous state in the northeast of India, dotted with mighty mountains, beautiful lakes and rivers, and a lot of green space. The state also shares borders with three other northeastern Indian states, Assam, Manipur and Tripura along with sharing borders with two neighbouring countries, namely Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, is perfectly hidden under clouds and forests, and the serenity that surrounds the place can’t be compared to any other hill stations in the whole of the country. Still, the city sees few tourists and probably, it is also one of the most underrated destinations in India. Well, this ‘must’ be one of the prime reasons why you must visit Mizoram this summer, because the place wouldn’t be crowded or overcrowded (for that matter) with unnecessary tourists, like the rest of the hill stations across the country.

Aizawl: The capital of the state, Aizawl is home to some Solomon's Temple, Mizoram State Museum and for shopping, there is Burra Bazaar. From the Durtlang Hills, one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and it is also an ideal region for ardent trekkers and hikers.

Lunglei
: Lunglei (meaning 'bridge of rock') is another picturesque town in Mizoram perfect for nature lovers, birdwatchers and trekkers. Far from madding crowd, Lunglei is a peace lovers best option. The town is named after a rock bridge called Lunglei Bridge around Nghasih stream. Brimming with natural beauty, this place with less tourist footfall, is a bliss for solitude seekers!

Serchhip: This one is a picturesque ‘hidden’ town in Mizoram, perfect for a traveller seeking solace in silence. Nearly 112 km from Aizawl, Serchhip is known for its numerous citrus trees. Saying that Serchhip is Mizoram’s ‘best-kept secret’ won’t be wrong. The town has a Vantawng Falls, which is quite popular among the villagers here and is also extremely beautiful to look at. Besides, there are Chhingpuii Thlan (stone tomb) and Thenzawl Deer Park.

Champhai: With enchanting surroundings, ancient caves, mighty mountains, and a lot of green space, Champhai in Mizoram is a splendid town with several interesting points of interest. There’s Tiau Lui (river), Kungawrhi Puk (an old cave), Rih Dil Lake, Lianchhiari Lunglen Tlang (a sunset point) and for adventure seekers, there’s Thasiama Seno Neihna.

Dampa Tiger Reserve: Dampa Tiger Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary situated around 125 km from Aizawl. Dampa meaning ‘Lonely Men’, derives its name from an incident wherein a majority of the women dumped the men in the region and left them alone. Flourishing with a wide variety of flora and fauna, this tiger reserve is visited by a number of wildlife enthusiasts each year. Here one can witness tigers in their natural habitat and experience the thrill of a lifetime. Besides tiger, one can also spot leopards, sloth bears and barking deer in the region.
