Kapil Sharma slammed for making an appeal only for flood hit Punjab, comedian issues a clarification
Comedian Kapil Sharma, who shared a video on his Twitter account today (August 22) seeking help for people affected by Punjab floods, has been slammed for making an appeal only for his native state.
Rains in the northern states have taken many lives, and caused havoc in several areas of Punjab, Haryana and Jammu. Maharashtra is another state braving the calamity.
After Kapil posted the video, several Internet users criticised Kapil for not stepping forward to help Maharashtra and other states, who have also been affected by floods.

This made Kapil issue another post, giving an elaborate clarification. The comedian wrote that his appeal was for a cause and not a particular state. He also stated that the charity he has mentioned in the video works across the country and internationally.

Kapil requested fans to focus on the cause and rise above divisions. He also expressed his anger at people posting useless comments on social media than helping those in need.
In the first video that the comedian posted today, he talked about all the families that have been affected due to the floods in Punjab. He shared that the crops have been damaged and their kin need their support and love in this time of need.
Kapil added that help of any kind would be greatly appreciated. He wrote on his Twitter account, "Punjab floods appeal: pls come forward to support your brothers n sisters."

The grim situation has prompted the Punjab government to declare the situation in the affected villages of the state 'a natural calamity'. Chief minister Amarinder Singh has announced Rs 100 crore for emergency relief and rehabilitation measures in affected regions.
After the controversy, Kapil has posted a fresh video, where he can be seen making an appeal for Maharashtra floods as well.

Kapil Sharma is currently seen on The Kapil Sharma Show. He has done several popular comedy shows on television including Comedy Nights with Kapil, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Hans Baliye and Ustaadon Ka Ustaad.
He enjoys a huge fan following and is loved by the audience for his comic timing.
