Aggies will have the opportunity to explore the role unconscious bias plays in their everyday lives when the Check Your Blind Spots Unconscious Bias Tour makes a stop at Texas A&M University Thursday, Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in Kyle Field Plaza (NE corner).

The mobile tour is part of the upcoming SEC Business School Diversity Conference, hosted by Mays Business School Feb. 27-March 1.

The tour is spearheaded by CEO Act!on for Diversity & Inclusion, a CEO-driven business coalition to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The tour is an interactive experience where visitors learn about and explore ways to mitigate unconscious bias in their everyday lives, and can sign the I Act On pledge to address personal biases and drive inclusive behaviors.

Texas A&M President Michael K. Young has signed the CEO Pledge, which signifies a commitment to building a productive, diverse and inclusive workplace. He encouraged Texas A&M students, faculty and staff to learn more about these efforts.

“I am pleased to have signed the CEO Pledge as it serves to reaffirm Texas A&M’s faithfulness to the idea that we are strongest when we are united, when everyone is treated fairly and motivated to achieve both for their careers and for the betterment of the university,” Young said. “I encourage the campus community to explore this topic further. Together we have the power to ensure that everyone who works and studies at Texas A&M feels included and valued for their unique talents and viewpoints.”

Mays Dean Eli Jones said the mobile tour visit and diversity conference aligns with the school’s commitment to inclusion. “Two years ago, Mays Business School faculty and staff adopted Diversity and Inclusion as its top strategic initiative,” Jones said. “We view inclusion as a necessary component to innovation, and it is integral to our mission to be a vibrant learning organization. Having the interactive bus on the Texas A&M campus reinforces our sincere desire to be more inclusive in our thinking and actions.”

Visitors to the interactive event are encouraged to share their experience on social media using #CEOAction, #IActOn and #CheckYourBlindSpots.
