The world has been feeling the effects from the pandemic for some time now, and with no true end in sight many businesses have been adapting to fit in today's world. When it comes to movies and television, this means a lot more attention is being placed on animation.
Virtually all live-action projects were halted when the outbreak began, causing shows to wrap their seasons early (Supernatural, Flash), postponed movie release dates (Black Widow, The Eternals), and even some cases where animation has taken over to finish the product (The Blacklist). Because of these things, animated films and shows have been thriving. With more viewing numbers for existing projects, greenlighting new animation becomes much easier.
Netflix announced via twitter that their animated film The Willoughbys, produced by Ricky Gervais, has surpassed 37.6 million views over the past month. This will without a doubt have a direct impact on what projects move forward on the platform. Check out the tweet for yourself below.
