Male shot in vehicle at Brampton intersection

By News Staff

A 29-year-old man is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in a vehicle at a Brampton intersection Friday.

Peel police said they were called to Queen Street and Finchgate Boulevard just before 5:30 p.m for a report of a shooting.

Police said the victim was driving through an intersection when another vehicle pulled up alongside them and opened fire.

The driver sped home with the victim and called 911 from a residence.

The man was taken to a trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Investigators said they are searching for a red sedan that was seen travelling southbound on Finchgate Boulevard from Queen Street to Clark Boulevard, then toward Torbram Road or the Bramalea area.

It was previously reported by police a blue pick-up truck was seen fleeing the scene, but later said the truck is not believed to be the suspect vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
