More than 40 classic cars were on display in Springdale on Sunday as part of the annual Springdale Volunteer Fire Department’s car cruise.

The department has been holding the car cruise for four years in conjunction with its annual jubilee fundraiser, which kicks off Monday.

Cheswick resident Bob Laczek had one of the oldest cars at the cruise with a 1930 Ford Model A.

“It’s original,” Laczek said of the car. “(It was) made for the working man.”

Laczek said he enjoys sharing his interest in classic cars with others.

“I want to use it,” he said. “I don’t want to just look at it.”

Springdale resident Jerry Matisz brought his 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. He bought the car in 1997 from a man who lived in Dearborn, Mich., and worked for General Motors.

“They really made a lot,” he said. “You don’t see very many of them (today).”

Matisz said the car still has its original paint and interior. The only work done to it has been mechanical.

“I’ve never even waxed it,” he said.

The car was created as more of a personal car and not a family sedan.

“I just think they’re classy looking,” Matisz said.
