The Boy Scouts planned to hold the first of two meetings with parents Thursday night regarding the arrest of a former Scout chaplain accused of sexual assault.

The meetings are being held for the benefit of Rhode Island families who have boys in the two scout units James Glawson had contact with in recent months.

The first meeting on Thursday night was to be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Westerly, but was moved to a new location.

A Boy Scout spokesperson told NBC 10 the move was made due to a scheduling conflict at the church.

The second meeting is still scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday at St. Bernard Church in North Kingstown.

Investigators said 74-year-old James Glawson of Exeter has known ties to the two churches, as well as the Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Hopkinton.

Glawson was arrested last week after investigators said an 18-year-old disabled man in state care came forward with accusations that Glawson sexually assaulted him over the course of several years.

Investigators aren't saying where alleged assaults happened. They're also not saying if any other potential victims have come forward.

Glaswson was denied a public defender in court Wednesday, and he's scheduled to be in court again Friday.
