Grey’s Anatomy Shouldn’t Give Up on Jackson and Maggie — Here’s Why

We haven’t always been Team Jaggie. Though Grey’s Anatomy stars Jesse Williams and Kelly McCreary are scalpel-sharp actors who make a gorgeous on-screen couple, the pairing of Jackson and Maggie just didn’t work for us. But now we don’t want the show to give up on them. “Whaaat?” you say.
It all comes down to two words: Mr. Monopoly. During Jaggie’s spectacular fight in the Season 15 finale, Maggie at last stood up to Jackson. She called him on his upbringing as the wealthiest of Richie Riches; she lit into him for the patronizing way he kept trying to change her when she was perfectly happy the way she was, thank you very much; and finally, she suggested that, although she believed he loved her, he didn’t actually like her. It was, in short, amazing.
It was so amazing, in fact, that it left us wanting more. This was a Maggie who wasn’t to be trifled with; a Maggie who was unafraid to, as she’d put it, bring the thunder; a Maggie who there was no way in hell Jackson would dare take off on to undertake his “God quest” (leaving only a damn voicemail to explain his whereabouts!).
As voices were raised and truth bombs dropped, it occurred to us that our issue with Jaggie had become parity. Jackson didn’t treat Maggie like an equal. His spiritual journey was of paramount importance, and if she didn’t support it, he’d be perfectly justified — at least in his mind — in chatting about it with other women (including ex-wife April). And if Maggie expressed a disinterest in, say, camping, he’d argue that she just didn’t know what she liked, but he could show her. How condescending is that?
So now we’re curious. What would Jaggie be like if Maggie refused to let Jackson dominate her? Would her naturally effervescent personality rub off on him? Would he find out that to actually know her isn’t just to love her but to like her, too? We want to find out. And for that reason, we are hoping Grey’s dives deeper into its exploration of Jaggie in Season 16. What do you think, fans? although the maggie from the season finale is certainly an improvement over who she’s been all those previous years, jaggie should really head for splitsville asap.
they bring out the absolute worst in each other, as evidenced the their fight in the finale. although i definitely take maggie’s side in that (having your partner constantly telling you what you should be like, what you do and don’t like is indeed condescending af.), she hasn’t exactly been great to jackson either in the time thye were together.
they should both find someone else.
Yup, when you have to try that hard to make something work with someone, its time for splitsville. They aren’t compatible whatsoever. It’s too bad Jackson and Maggie got together because honestly, Jackson and Meredith are perfectly matched for each other.

Still don’t see them as a couple. They are almost as boring as meredith and deluca.
So not this. Meredith and DeLucca = MAJOR HOTNESS. Total keepers. Grey’s Anatomy super couple in the making.

Nope Not Krista Vernoff, but it appears we share the same opinion….. Meredith + DeLuca = Supercouple/SuperHOT. I love those two together. Well, I love him the best, but I’ll take her also. HA!

Eugh, God no. Maggie was totally out of line in the tantrum she threw. Jackson cant help that he grew up in a wealthy family, and couples encourage each other to try new things all the time. She did nothing but childishly moan and complain on that camping trip, and frankly if Jackson doesn’t like her then that’s entirely reasonable.
Greys have been trying to make fetch happen with this couple for seasons now and its brought out the worst in both characters. Maggie needs to go.
I am someone who loves the outdoors and loves camping. If a guy I dated didn’t like it, he just wouldn’t be a match for me. End of story.
They’re a boring couple Jackson and Maggie I don’t care about them to watch them or see what happened to them going into next season of show.
What the show miss is April Jackson ex-wife on the show we miss the chemistry between Jackson and April.

Yes , I miss the chemistry & passion between April & Jackson . They were best friends before even getting together. I have no interest in watching Maggie & Jackson together. I haven’t seen Season 15 and I will not see Season 16, 17
100% agree. I have watched Grey’s Anatomy from the beginning and I stopped watching early season 14 when I realized that they were going to shove this pairing down the viewers throats, no matter how many viewers stated their dislike of them, and haven’t watched it since. Not planning on watching it again.
A lot of viewers hated Jackson with April as well. She was a whiner and the chemistry was not there at all.

April and Jackson had more chemistry just talking about making out with each other in that famous bathroom scene than most other couples on the show. Also, directors have commented on their chemistry (Kevin Mckidd and Rob Corn) and both have said how easy it was to direct their scenes.
I miss April I will never be interested in a Maggie/Jackson pairing. Let him move on.

It’s not just on Jackson, either. Maggie may have spouted some truths about Jackson (I agree with her sentiment about not wanting to camp and how Jackson pushed her to go and then blaming her for not trying) but Jackson also spouted truths about Maggie. Maggie is equally to blame for their dysfunctional relationship.
And honestly, if Jackson doesn’t even LIKE her, they shouldn’t be together. They should stop forcing a relationship that never worked in the first place. They may be better off as friends, because they suck as lovers.

I don’t think they can be friends. Maggie, the way the writers portray her, is too immature to handle a grown up relationship let alone a break-up. They should keep them apart for the remainder of the show’s running or have one of them written off.

Please no. I admit that I’m die hard Japril, which can never happen unless they ruin April’s character again, but Jaggie is awful. No chemistry, boring as all heck, and awkward. Their body language screams awkward. Make it stop.
Heh?? I thought the season of love already enough explored their relationship deeper which they almost conquered the screen time more than any other couple in the show. Telling us how lovey dovey and perfect they were for each other. EEEWWW. Krista pushed them hard on audience to root for these two yet they are still the worst. They are the most boring and the fact both actors and characters DO NOT HAVE CHEMISTRY ruined my interest for the show. Enough is enough.
I just hate the Jackson character. He’s whiny and spoiled. I can’t give an opinion on Jaggie because I have to fast forward through all of his scenes.

Agreed 100%. Nothing against the actress but Maggie is my least favourite character on the show. The dialogue the character spouts is drivel and she’s very whiny. But my dislike increases tenfold when she’s in scenes with Jackson.

Or…hear me out..as a woman you don’t have to stick around to prove your worth to a man. She shouldn’t have to teach Jackson to “like” her. The bar is truly in hell for men. She should find a man that likes her already and is good for her like Dean from station 19. Enough with the endless chances she gives him as he continues to walk all over her. She needs to take her newfound bravery and use those lessons in her next relationship. Jackson is a grown ass man and has had plenty of relationships with women, this is not something he needs to be taught. They just don’t work. Put everyone out of their misery. Plus you’re forgetting there’s no chemistry Btween this, then throw in the backdrop of them being stepsiblings? Just stop.
The two actors have zero chemistry. Unfortunately, the Maggie character has just never gelled with the rest of the cast. Separately but not entirely unrelated, firing Sarah Drew was a mistake.
Exactly and it feels like Jaggie’s entire relationship has been about a certain petty showrunner’s ego trip and proving fans wrong about them not being a good match. Two years later and most fans still dislike them but I almost feel like the writers still think they can prove a point with them. Sarah and Jesse just had natural chemistry that Kelly doesn’t have with him. They don’t fit together and it is past time to move on. I will always hate the way they did Sarah and Jessica dirty.
Totally agree. Sarah and Jesse had that magical something that no script can produce. It’s either there or it’s not. If you come to think about it, they shined not because of the script, but sometimes DESPITE the script. Jackson standing up at the wedding for example, as an idea was totally out of character and absolutely unrealistic. However they managed to turn a ridiculous situation into an epic scene. We’ll never know why KV ruined such gold that other shows would kill for; I strongly suspect though that it has to do with them becoming too popular and outshining the “star” of the show. No other logic explanation

Yeah no that fight showcased every reason they shouldn’t be together. They are too different and quite frankly should have been done the moment Maggie found out he was texting other woman.
Plus they have no chemistry and we’ve been forced to watch this mess of a ship for far too long. It’s forced and took up almost every episode, so much so that i muted my comouter every time they were on screen cause I just can’t stand this relationship and it’s makijg me dislike two characters i actually liked before this mess.
OMG Too funny, Kelly. I did exactly the same thing. Mute every time they’re on. There was a time when I liked these two as separate entities, but this horrible relationship (for so many, many reasons) has completely turned me off to both of the characters. I don’t want to see either of them anymore, in any way. Even if the writers wrote the most horrific, painful things to happen to them (to make us feel sorry for one/both of them), it just wouldn’t work for me. Murder, rape, tsunami – I don’t care. I don’t want to see either of them on the show anymore. I blame the writers. This is a couple that never worked and I’m tired of having them pushed down our throats. Please EP & Writers: This isn’t/didn’t work. Please have them get married and move away … somewhere where they can selflessly help others or whatever. Just. Please. GO. (no new romances; no “one stays, one goes” ……….. just have them leave together). PLEASE. My mute button is getting worn out.
I completely agree, I like the characters separately but once they put them together. I like both of them less even when they are not on screen together.
Nothing against the actors either. Please just prune this dying /dead branch and more on. And take Owen with them- sorry Kevin nothing personal.
Jackson and Maggie are so cute together and their chemistry is amazing, arguments and all that. There is no such thing as a perfect couple and if perfect is what you’re looking for you won’t find it on Grey’s Anatomy.
Finally!! I so agree!!! If we look at our own relationships we can see that we put up with a lot and grew together. Jackson and Maggie have amazing chemistry, but both are flawed. That has to be okay. I would love to see him beg her to take him back before he tries to break up her wedding on her wedding day…
I think greys should let Jackson and Maggie relationship growth. At least explore to see if they like each other enough to respect their differences.

Nope not in the least. She is a pampered spoiled brat, just like him. Very boring. Move on and get better partners for all. Just no fun watching anymore. I use to rush to get to watch Grey’s Anatomy, but now I really don’t care if I miss a show or not.
Ok, so that was a good scene, but it should’ve ended with her walking away. The two of them have zero chemistry. It’s also creepy that they’re related. By marriage sure. But still creepy. It might work if they had even the tiniest bit of chemistry, but sadly, they don’t.

I know they’re not related by blood, only by marriage. But I find the scenes with Jackson, Maggie, Richard and Catherine awkward and yes, creepy. You might be ok with it and that’s totally fine. But I’m just creeped out. I’d be ok if they had great chemistry, or any chemistry at all. Sadly, they don’t.
There’s a huge difference between step-siblings whose parents married when they were children and were raised together, and the Maggie/Jackson step-sibling thing. They were already adults, Jackson has already been married once. What if they had started dating before Richard and Catherine got together? Would that still be creepy?
Never liked them in the first place. I’m sick of dragging things out on Grey’s. They ruined Callie and Arizona by the time they actually broke up I didn’t even care anymore.
Yuck I can’t stand Maggie she gets on my nerves always trying to fit in always trying to act like she’s part of the group and she’s not attractive and they just don’t go together I just feel like Maggie’s a dorky girl that always trieslike fitting in too hard she should have stayed with Deluca.
I’m not a Maggie or Jackson fan at all, but that’s because of the way they’ve been written the writers. Including “she’s not attractive” in your assessment is narrow minded and superficial. It says more about you than it does about her.
I agree. I love the concept of #Jaggie from the beginning. Jackson was so condescending towards Maggie. I was elated when Maggie stood up for herself. I can’t wait waist season 16 will bring

This couple never gelled for me. Not one bit. I do like the idea of seeing what happens when Maggie puts him in his place & he becomes a grownup. In 3 episodes. Then they elope and move to Puerto Rico to help the people there. Buh Bye.
