John Tyler will play in the consolation bracket, while Lufkin is in the championship division after Friday’s pool play in the adidas Texas State 7on7 Football Championships in College Station.

JT meets Dickinson at 8 a.m. Saturday on Field 1B at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex. It is single elimination. If the Lions win, they will play either Lucas Lovejoy or Klein Cain at 10:15 p.m. on Field 1B.

The consolation final is slated for 2:30 p.m. on Field 8A.

The Lions were 0-3 in Pool A, falling to Cypress Bridgeland (52-32), Arlington (41-26) and defending state runner-up A&M Consolidated (34-25).

Members of the Lions — coached by Reggie Coleman — are Isaiah Johnson, Cam Ford, Kitan Crawford, Jermone Bowser, Alijah Johnson, Austin Campbell, Damian Taylor, Daveon Cummings, Frank Turner, D’Jonte Henderson, Kameron Mayfield, Kameron Bedlock, Keelan Erwin, Kenyontae Pinkard, Robert Draper, Travion Ates, Shiloh Canady, JaKarion Lacy and Phillip Bussey.

A&M Consolidated won Pool A at 3-0, followed by Arlington (2-1) and Bridgeland (1-2).

Lufkin won Pool B with a 3-0 record. The Panthers will meet Fort Bend Ridge Point at 9 a.m. Saturday on Field 3A. A win there means Lufkin will play either A&M Consolidated or Cedar Park Vista Ridge at 10:15 a.m. on Field 3A.

The championship game is set for 3 p.m. on Field 7A.

In pool play, Lufkin won over Klein Cain (26-18), Arlington Bowie (34-13) and Austin Anderson (33-19).

Division 1 is for UIL Class 6A and 5A schools, along with TAPPS Division I schools.

Division 2

(Class 4A and 3A Division I)

Sunnyvale scored a 34-27 win over Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the Division 2 championship game.

Sunnyvale finished second in Pool D to McGregor on Thursday, but scored five wins on Friday to finish the tourney at 7-1. The Raiders reached the title game with wins over Marion (41-20), Midlothian Heritage (26-13), Waco Connally (48-13) and Tuscola Jim Ned (13-12).

Pleasant Grove also finished in second in their pool — F to Jourdanton. The Hawks were 4-1 on Friday for a record of 6-2.

The Texarkana school won over Columbia (40-34), Sweeny (41-28), Melissa (37-27) and Life Waxahachie (32-27).

Longview Spring Hill won its first round matchup 21-14 over Waco La Vega, but fell to Life Waxahachie 27-12 in round two.

Crockett lost to Graham in the first round 48-38.

Division 3

(Class 1A through 3A Division II)

Poth defeated Crane 27-19 in the Division 3 final.

Poth finished second in Pool C on Thursday behind Wichita Falls City View (3-0). The Pirates were 2-1.

Crane won Pool F with a 3-0 record.

Poth reached the finals with wins over Buffalo (38-6), Childress (42-27), Palmer (44-40) and Hearne (28-20).

Crane earned a finals berth with victories over Arp (28-0), Flatonia (39-28), Comfort (39-24) and Falls City (28-20).

Carlisle, Daingerfield and Tenaha joined Arp in falling in the first round. Comfort defeated Carlisle (38-18) with Daingerfield dropping a 27-24 game to Ozona. Falls City defeated Tenaha 32-27.
