Alternate vegetable market in Dehradun to operate from Maldevta

The government has given permission to operate the vegetable market from Maldevata of Raipur development block as an alternative arrangement, due to rising corona cases in Niranjanpur vegetable market of Dehradun. The business of fruits and vegetables will be done from Grameen Haat at Maldevata till further orders.

Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal informed that corona infected patients are being found in Niranjanpur Mandi continuously. With the closure of the mandi, the alternate vegetable market will be operated from Grameen Haat at Maldevata, Raipur. Sanitization will be done at Niranjanpur Mandi. Secretary Agriculture Meenakshi Sundaram has given instructions to operate mobile vehicles for the supply of fruits and vegetables.

Will supply from alternative market

Market president Rajesh Sharma said that alternate arrangements are being made in Maldevta so that people do not face any difficulties. Most of the local farmers’ goods will be taken here. He told that due to the home quarantine of all the vendors, the mandi committee will buy and sell fruits and vegetables themselves. He said that fruits and vegetables were sold on Friday through 25 vehicles, whose number will be increased to 50 today.

The vendors should remain quarantined for a fixed period following the rules. Those who are selling fruits and vegetables outside, there is an appeal to them to be home quarantinde. If any such agent, employee or laborer is found outside their house, then a case will be filed against them as per the order of the District Magistrate.
