Henderson will be the first local home for Walmart’s outdoor container park concept, creating a huge, open air-dining and retail destination. The retail giant floated the idea as a nationwide expansion back in 2018,

The Henderson Container Park will fill approximately 1.5-acres of the existing Walmart parking lot at Eastgate Plaza, located at the intersection of Sunset Road and Marks Street, according to recently filed paperwork. The retail hub is already home to In-N-Out Burger and Red Lobster and sits a short distance from the Sunset Station.

Early plans for the two-level, 63,600-square-foot site include 1,920 square feet set aside for retail stores and 6,620 square feet for containers modified to serve a variety of menus.

A similar park headed to Loveland, Colorado, is promoting a “carefully curated mix of local, regional and national food tenants in an active setting.” live entertainment, “wellness” facilities, and “diverse beverage choices making it the natural ‘go-to’ destination for any night out.”

In Henderson, the current layout includes pizza, tacos, burgers, desserts, coffee, a large “bar & grill,” plus yet to-be-assigned spaces.

Still to be officially announced, a possible timetable for completion has not been revealed.
