Three miles west of both the Arts and Medical Districts, an ambitious and sure-to-be controversial lounge announced plans to create a 100,000-square-foot “Las Vegas Gun District,” introducing “gun fun and freedom” to the westside.

Moving into the Valley Oaks Plaza at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard, the project promises it is “well on it’s way to opening,” replacing nine vacant retailers, plus a former 47,716-square-foot Food 4 Less grocery store for its “Patriot Hall Event Center” and the shuttered space next door to Pro Kabob for its 32,114-square-foot “Gunfight Academy.”

The Smokin Gun Bar & Lounge is currently planned to neighbor the “Dirty Cop Dry Cleaners,” but further details of the lounge have yet to be announced. The proposed “Las Vegas Gun District sits across Sahara Avenue from Herbs & Rye and Weera Thai, and existing fast-casual options at the retail center include Carl’s Jr, Tacos Mexico, Peru Chicken, with two unoccupied pads hoped to be filled with full-service dining.

Self-described as “a dedicated entertainment environment suitable to the gun culture in Las Vegas” the district will focus on the sale of firearms, weapons training, and the creation of an entertainment venue for “MMA, concerts, gunfights, gun shows, and special events.”

Among the names attached to the project, Michael L. Montandon former mayor of North Las Vegas, and ex-bounty hunter and private investigator Nephi Khaliki.

An estimated debut date has not been revealed.
