Cooper Mays commits to Tennessee

KNOXVILLE — Class of 2020 offensive lineman Cooper Mays has committed to Tennessee.

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound offensive lineman is from Knoxville Catholic High School. Mays is the son of former Tennessee offensive lineman Kevin Mays and brother of Georgia offensive lineman Cade Mays.

Mays holds SEC offers from Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Florida.

Catholic head coach and former Vol Steve Matthews discussed Mays committing to UT with Vols Wire.

“I am excited,” Matthews said of Mays committing to Tennessee. “It is a great decision and the type of player (Jeremy) Pruitt wants.

“Pruitt really has liked him from the get go and made him a priority.”

Mays currently plays defensive line and guard on the offensive line, mixed in playing some center, for Catholic.

Matthews said Mays is athletic and flexing him at tight end is also an option.
