Flood warning issued for North Central West Virginia region

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Much of North Central West Virginia is under an areal flood warning issued by the National Weather Service in Charleston.

Portions of Harrison, Taylor, Lewis, Doddridge, Ritchie, and Gilmer counties could see flooding throughout the day Thursday.

Just before 11 a.m., the National Weather Service in Charleston reported that gauges indicated flooding ongoing along streams and creeks in those areas, issuing a flood warning until 2:45 p.m.

Some issues that will experience flooding include Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Shinnston, Stonewood, Lumberport, Nutter Fort, Anmoore, Enterprise, Salem, West Union and Pennsboro.

The National Weather Service reminds residents to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads.
