Statement from the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce

The following statement was issued Thursday by the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.

The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce is both supportive and reflective of the diversity of the community we serve.  As an organization, we will not remain silent in our condemnation of the historical and systematic racism and brutality inflicted on members of the Black community. The pain and injustice suffered by selected men and woman we call friends, neighbors, and colleagues is intolerable. Our denunciation of these acts of prejudice by some stretches far beyond the borders of our town.

We fully support the constitutionally protected rights of those to protest peacefully. We commend those whose goal is to enter a constructive dialogue and explore a path forward.

The Chamber categorically condemns the actions by the few who choose the counterproductive trail of destruction and violence as a means to their desired proliferation of civil unrest.

The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce will continue to explore ways that we, as leaders in our community, can be a part of the solution to these centuries’ old repressions.
