The depression crossed the Tamil Nadu coast and brought heavy rain to southern India. Heavy to very heavy rain likely in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. Isolated heavy rain is likely in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Scattered rain possible in Karnataka.

The path of depression had shifted slightly northward during Wednesday and hence, Chennai is getting a heavier rain than what the previous forecasts suggested. As the depression moves inland today, rain will still continue along the coastline from Chennai to Pondicherry. Total rainfall since Tuesday may reach 300-400 mm until tomorrow at some places. There are risks of flooding along the Tamil Nadu coastline.

Scattered snow possible Jammu and Kashmir under the influence of a western disturbance.

Dry weather is forecast for northern, central, western, eastern and northeastern India. Air quality will be poor to very poor especially around Delhi and other major cities in northern, central, eastern, northeastern regions.

Maximum temperatures will be higher than normal in southern Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka during this week.
