Cyclonic Circulation over Rajasthan May Cause Rain, Thunderstorms in North, Central India

Active convection will persist in north India. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive 'moderate to heavy' snow and rain.

North-eastern states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh are on cards to witness isolated snow and rain.

A cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan will cause moderate to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are also likely to experience isolated rains. A downpour of hailstorms has also been outlined as a possibility in these regions.

Kerala, southern Karnataka and south-eastern Tamil Nadu will receive isolated rains with thunderstorms. Similarly, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will also receive isolated rains along with thunderstorms.

Maximum temperatures will be average of slightly warmer than normal across most of the country. Night-time temperatures will be +4°C to +8°C or warmer than normal in central India.

The snowfall and rainfall trend in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may continue. Sikkim will also witness similar weather conditions. Arunachal Pradesh may experience isolated snow or rain as well. Eastern and north-eastern India will receive snow and rainfall from Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Moderate to heavy rain along with thunderstorms will prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh due to a cyclonic circulation. Isolated rain with thunderstorms is likely over northern Rajasthan, northeastern Madhya Pradesh, western Chhattisgarh, Vidharbha, Bihar, and western Jharkhand. Hailstorms are also possible in these states. The conditions will spread to eastern-India by Friday.

The heaviest rainfall in Delhi is forecast on Thursday with a possibility of over 25mm, and it will ease off on Friday. Air quality improvement can be expected after rainfall.

Kerala, south-eastern Karnataka and the Andaman and Nicobar islands may experience isolated rain with thunderstorms. Isolated rain is possible over northern Telangana as well.

Maximum temperatures will dip in most of the northern states. Night-time temperatures will be +4°C to +8°C or more warmer than normal in eastern and northeastern India.
