Meghalaya Likely to Receive More than 50mm of Rainfall

Tuesday

A cyclonic circulation over the east along with the southerly warm winds and moist air mass is likely to bring thunderstorm rain along the east coast and northeastern India.

Meghalaya is likely to receive a partial precipitation of 50 mm or more over the morning and it will possibly start raining in Tripura from afternoon to evening .

Fairly high thunderstorm rain is expected over West Bengal and scattered thunderstorm rain is likely over Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Down South, a trough along with a cyclonic circulation is likely to bring shower rain with thunderstorms. Kerala is very likely to receive widespread thunderstorm rain from afternoon to the evening.

In the north a western disturbance (WD) may possibly lead to rain or snow and thunderstorms. Scattered rain or snow and thunderstorms are also likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Due to the hot and dry air from the west, the maximum temperatures of 40°C or more is widely expected across India except the northeastern states. Maximum temperatures of 45°C or more can especially persist over the central and western India along with the southern part of north India as these regions are covered with high pressure.

Maximum temperatures of 45°C or more are very likely over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The air quality is likely to be very poor over northern & central India and in the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

Wednesday

The prevailing cyclonic circulation in the east is likely to bring up to 100 mm of precipitation over a 24 hours period along the east coast of West Bengal on Thursday. Due to torrential rain, 50 mm or more of precipitation is partially expected over southern Assam and eastern Meghalaya.

Fairly high thunderstorm rain is likely over West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Also, scattered thunderstorm rain is likely over Odisha, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Rain or snow and thunderstorms may continue in the mountainous regions of north India due to a persistent WD until Thursday. Scattered rain or snow and thunderstorms likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The trough along with a cyclonic circulation in the south will continue to bring widespread thunderstorm rain is very likely over northeastern India, Kerala.

The maximum temperatures of 45°C or more are very likely over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana. In Delhi, the maximum temperature is likely to be 45°C or more from Sunday onwards.

The air quality will be very poor over northern, central & eastern India and in the major cities; Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
