Coastal Maharashtra to Get Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms

A cyclonic circulation over north eastern parts of India is sucking in moist southwesterly humid winds from the Bay of Bengal thus causing precipitation over the region. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Thursday. Unstable conditions over Eastern and North Eastern India persist for the next 5 days.

Scattered rain is also possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. West Bengal will receive isolated rainfall and thunderstorms during this forecast period. The Andaman and Nicobar islands are also forecast to receive heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The northeastern and eastern parts of India will also get rainfall due to the progress of the Northern Limit Monsoon (NLM).

The incursion of southwesterly humid winds from the Arabian Sea in to the western coast of India will trigger heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over western and southern India. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Goa on Thursday unstable conditions over coastal Western and Southern India persist for the next 5 days.

Tamil Nadu will receive isolated rainfall and thunderstorms, while Telangana is likely to get scattered rainfall and thunderstorms during this forecast period.

A Western Disturbance (WD) and its induced cyclonic circulation are likely to cause wet weather conditions over north India. Fairly widespread rain or snow and thunderstorms are likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Haryana, Delhi, Punjab will also receive isolated rainfall and thunderstorms during this forecast period.

A Low Pressure Area is located over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday morning and moves east-northeastward. The low pressure area is expected to cause heavy rainfall thunderstorms over central India and northwestern India: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.

Max temperatures of 40°C or more likely over Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Meanwhile, air quality will be very poor over northern, central, western, eastern and southern India, especially in major cities like Delhi.

Thursday and beyond

The persisting weather conditions over north eastern parts of India is likely to cause heavy rain and thunderstorms likely over Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar.

A Low Pressure Area is located over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh moves east-northeastward. Total rainfall of 20 to 60 mm are likely over southern Rajasthan and northern Madhya Pradesh until Thursday morning.

The progress of monsoon over western parts of India and the incursion of moist southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea will continue to lead to wet weather conditions along the west coast of India. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra and Goa on Thursday Unstable conditions over coastal Western and Southern India persist for the next 5 days. Some other parts of Maharashtra may also receive isolated rainfall during this forecast period.

The wet weather conditions triggered by a WD and its induced cyclonic circulation will continue to cause scattered rain or snow and thunderstorms likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Isolated rain and thunderstorms is possible over Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Max temperatures of 40°C or more likely over Rajasthan Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Air quality will be very poor over northern, central, western, eastern and southern India, especially in major cities like Delhi.
