Saturday - Nationwide Rain Forecast

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) has advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan and finally covered the whole country with four days behind normal.

Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa. Also, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

Saturday - State/Regional Forecast

A cyclonic circulation located over northern Andhra Pradesh is likely to move westward. It will get to Gujarat by Tuesday bringing rainfall along its path, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat.

Heavy rains are likely to continue along the west coast of southern & western India and inland Maharashtra. A total accumulation of 50 to 100 mm is likely over this region in the next 24 hours.

Another cyclonic circulation drives the moist air over the Bay of Bengal to northeastern India and northern plains. Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms will possibly continue over this region.

Yet another cyclonic circulation is located over Punjab and Haryana. Rainfall with thunderstorms are intermittently expected over Delhi, NCR, and the adjoining areas during this forecast period.

Rainfall in Central India may intensify from the middle of next week because of the incursion of westerly winds from the Arabian Sea is likely to become stronger.

Maximum temperatures in Kerala and coastal Karnataka will possibly be under 30°C until Tuesday due to rainfall. While, them in western Rajasthan are likely to reach up to 40°C. The overnight lows in southern Karnataka will be in the upper 10s or lower 20s.

Sunday and Beyond

The westerly winds continue to affect the southern and westen India and brings heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms over Kerala, Karnataka and heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.

A prevailing cyclonic circulation along with the moist winds from the Bay of Bengal continue to affect the northeastern states. Heavy rain and thunderstorms likely over, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Another existing cyclonic circulation over Punjab and Haryana brings widespread rain and thunderstorms likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Also, scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

Circulation moving from Andhra Pradesh to Gujarat brings rainfall along its way. Widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Bihar, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Also, isolated rain and thunderstorms likely over Jharkhand and Rajasthan.

Maximum temperatures of 40°C or more likely over western Rajasthan and northern Gujarat. The air quality is likely to be poor or very poor over Northern, Central, and Eastern India, especially in major cities like Delhi.
