Torrential Rain Expected over Madhya Pradesh until Friday Evening

Thursday - Nationwide Forecast

Convection on the Konkan coast due to the convergence of the westerly winds from the Arabian Sea is expected to weaken slightly.

Heavy rain is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and northeastern Gujarat.

Widespread thunderstorms are expected over much of Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Konkan coast, eastern Gujarat and Rajasthan, except Thar Desert.

Fairly widespread thunderstorms are possible over the Western Himalayan, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

Friday and Beyond - Nationwide Forecast

On Friday, very heavy rain is likely over Rajasthan and northeastern Gujarat, whereas heavy rain is forecast over northwestern Madhya Pradesh.

Widespread thunderstorms are expected over much of Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Konkan coast, eastern Gujarat, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Rajasthan, except the Thar Desert. Fairly widespread thunderstorms are possible over Odisha, Lakshadweep and the Western Himalayan.

A long trough that extends over the Sub-Himalayan Range is expected to maintain its position and power for the next five days.

A low pressure system in Madhya Pradesh is moving west, and will reach Rajasthan until Friday. Then, it will alter its course to north-northeast and move to Punjab this weekend.

Due to the low pressure system, torrential rain is expected over Madhya Pradesh until Friday evening.

Furthermore, torrential rain with thunderstorm is expected over northeastern Gujarat on Friday, over Rajasthan from Thursday afternoon to Sunday dawn, and over Punjab from Sunday dawn to evening. Moreover, 100mm/24h or more of accumulated precipitation is expected over Rajasthan & northeastern Gujarat on Friday, and over Punjab on Sunday.

Max temperatures will be more than 8 degrees Celsius lower than normal over Punjab from Saturday. Also, max temperature in Delhi is expected to drop below 30 degree Celsius on Saturday.
