Cyclonic Circulation to Bring Heavy Rain Across Tamil Nadu

Friday - Nationwide Forecast

The monsoon trough is passing through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and northwest Bay of Bengal. The monsoon will be active with a low pressure area and some cyclonic circulations over Northern, Central and Eastern India.

Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over east Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Sikkim.

Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal.

Lastly, scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, interior Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Saturday and Beyond - Nationwide Forecast

A low pressure area has been located over north Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning. It will produce heavy to very heavy rain over Northern and Central India through the weekend.

The low pressure area will move west-northwestward, and be over Haryana, Delhi and the adjoining area on Saturday and Sunday, before eventually moving westward and weakening on Monday.

A cyclonic circulation has been located over Sikkim on Friday morning. The circulation, along with the southerly humid wind from Bay of Bengal, will bring heavy to very heavy rain over Sikkim for the next five days. It will move westward and bring heavy rain over Eastern India from Saturday and into next week. The southerly humid winds will bring fairly widespread rain over North Eastern India for the next five days.

Westerly humid winds from the Arabian Sea over the west coasts of Western and Southern India will persist for the next five days. These winds will produce heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms over coastal Western and Southern India on Friday and the weekend.

A cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu will bring heavy rain over the state on Friday and the weekend.

Coastal Western and South Eastern India will be warmer than average for the next five days.
