Wednesday - Nationwide Forecast
The activity of convection on the Konkan Coast due to the convergence of the westerly winds from the Arabian Sea is expected to be low for the next five days.
The activity of a long trough that extends over Sub-Himalayan Range is also expected to be low for the next five days.
Heavy rain has been forecast over southern Uttar Pradesh.
Fairly widespread thunderstorms are likely over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal & eastern Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
Air quality will be very poor over North, East and West India, and also in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
Thursday and Beyond - Nationwide Forecast
On Thursday, fairly widespread thunderstorms are likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal & eastern Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
A low pressure system near southeastern Uttar Pradesh will gradually move west-southwest, and will reach central Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Hence, heavy rain (50 mm / 24 h or more of accumulated rain) is expected in the following regions as follows:
- Southern Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
- The state border between southwestern Chhattisgarh & southeastern Maharashtra from Friday midnight to evening.
- The state border between western Chhattisgarh & eastern Maharashtra from Friday afternoon to Saturday midnight.
- Some areas of Madhya Pradesh, partially, for the next 5 days as the low pressure passes.
Max temperatures will be 4 to 8 degree Celsius higher than normal over inland Maharashtra for the next 5 days, as less cloudy weather is expected in the region.
