A group of residents of Bijnor’s Kazipura village in Uttar Pradesh experienced the shock of a lifetime when they found gold in an earthen pot that was buried underground. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, September 29.
The jewellery includes two necklaces, bangles in the form of springs, and some other items, and collectively weighs up to 4 kilograms. According to officials, the ornaments seem to be made of gold from an ancient period.
In their bid to fill a shrine, village residents were in the process of digging out soil from a field. Upon downing the unearthed soil into the shrine, they noticed a stray earthen pot. The group broke the pot, only to find jewellery made of yellowish metal coming out of it!
News of the discovery spread like wildfire, and within 10 minutes, a flock of locals arrived at the site of the shrine to lay their eyes on the treasure.
To try their luck at finding more gold, the village residents later launched an excavation operation in the same field, but no more was found.
The unearthed gold has since been seized by the police and revenue officials, and the joint team has launched an investigation into the matter.
