Here’s our latest weather outlook for India

Monday - Nationwide Forecast

Maha keeps its west-northwest tracking through Monday while developing, and it will then make an acute turn to east-northeast towards Gujarat, accelerating and showing downward trend thereafter. It is forecast to peak at 195 kmph on Monday.

Rough sea conditions in the central Arabian Sea with gale winds of 150 kmph will be likely from Monday to Tuesday, especially on Monday night, reaching 195 kmph.

A cyclonic circulation over North Andaman moves westward slowly, forming a low pressure area and providing heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Further, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, western Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and southern Tamil Nadu.

Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and West Bengal.

Dry weather is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, eastern Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and northern Tamil Nadu.

Tuesday and Beyond

Due to Maha, local downpours and gusty winds in Gujarat and the adjoining areas, and storm surge along the coastal Gujarat, can not be ruled out on Wednesday.

The cyclonic circulation moving westward from Andaman will bring rainfall over Odisha and adjoining areas from late Friday or Saturday morning. However, winds will start to intensify preceding its approach.

A fresh western disturbance will affect Jammu & Kashmir and the neighbouring states from Tuesday night, causing mountain snow and thunderstorms. It will induce a cyclonic circulation over Punjab, and slight improvement of air quality around the NCR can be expected in the middle of this week.

Between the western disturbance and Maha, the northern plains will receive rainfall and experience a drop in temperature beyond Wednesday.

A cyclonic circulation around Bangladesh will provide odd showers and thunderstorms over Northeastern India for the next few days.

Here’s the rainfall breakup w.r.t. intensity for Tuesday:

  • Heavy rain and thunderstorms: Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • Scattered rain and thunderstorms: Jammu & Kashmir, western Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and western Tamil Nadu.
  • Isolated rain and thunderstorms: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh.

Dry weather is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, eastern Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and eastern Tamil Nadu.
