Tuesday - Nationwide Forecast
The Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) “Maha” in the Arabian Sea will move toward Gujarat while its power diminishes, and lose its force as a cyclone before landfall on Thursday. Hence, no impact is expected due to the cyclone.
The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a force more than Cyclonic Storm, and landfall in Odisha from Sunday late night to Monday dawn. Northerly storm winds are expected in coastal Odisha before landfall (wind speed of up to 91km/h). No impacts of waves and rain are expected at the present forecast.
On Tuesday, fairly widespread thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Scattered thunderstorms are expected over Konkan Coast and the Malabar Coast.
Air qualities will be very poor over West Bengal, state border along Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and in major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai & Kolkata.
Wednesday and Beyond
The Western Disturbance is set to bring heavy snow over Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday, and throughout the Western Himalayan on Friday (snowfall of 1m/24hr or more). Temperature will drop significantly over the plain areas of North India from Thursday due to strong cold air mass on the upper layer.
On Wednesday, fairly widespread thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands throughout the day, and over Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu from afternoon to late at night.
Further, scattered thunderstorms are likely over western Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir from afternoon to late night.
