Wednesday - Nationwide Forecast
Northeast monsoon is expected to affect Southern India for the next five days, and bring a few spells of rain and thunderstorms over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, other regions of India will see dry weather due to an anticyclonic circulation. In fact, dry weather has been forecast over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, East Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Telangana and Karnataka.
On Wednesday, scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu.
Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Scattered snow is expected over Jammu & Kashmir. Isolated snow possible over Himachal Pradesh.
Thursday and Beyond
A deeply cold trough over Pakistan is slowly moving eastwards. The upper level south-westerly winds generated by this trough are likely to cause rain or snow over Northern India.
Snow accumulation up to 40-50 cm has been forecast in some locally alpine areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until Saturday. The peak, however, will arrive on Friday.
This trough will also bring light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over Rajasthan, Gujarat and the adjoining region through Saturday afternoon.
On Thursday, fairly widespread snow, thunderstorms and hail are likely over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Further, fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Snow may mix in at the Western Himalayan region.
Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Haryana and interior Karnataka.
Dry weather is likely over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Telangana and coastal Karnataka.
