Thursday - Nationwide Forecast
A deeply cold trough over Pakistan slowly moves eastward. This trough and a Western Disturbance over west of North India will bring heavy snow or rain, thunderstorms and local hail over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Total snow accumulation in 72 hours over 100 cm are forecast in some locally alpine areas of Jammu & Kashmir until Sunday morning.
On Thursday, fairly widespread snow, thunderstorms and hail are likely over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms have been predicted over West Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Snow may mix in at the Western Himalayan Region.
Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Haryana and interior Karnataka.
Dry weather is likely over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Telangana and coastal Karnataka.
Friday and Beyond
The aforementioned trough and a cyclonic circulation also bring light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over Rajasthan, Gujarat and adjoining region through Saturday. These systems will gradually weaken, and dry weather will come back over Northern & Western India on Sunday.
Cold advection will prevail over northern plains, especially Punjab and Western Rajasthan, for the next 5 days.
Northeast monsoon will affect Southern India for the next 5 days and bring few spells of rain and thunderstorms over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Northeast India will see moderate rain/snow from Saturday as a trough arrives.
Other regions of India will see dry weather due to anti cyclonic circulation.
