5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast
A Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) Amphan is located over central part of the south Bay of Bengal on Monday morning. It will travel NNE while developing and likely to be upgraded into Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) anytime soon. The forecast track is becoming more consistent than yesterday, its landing point will likely range over West Bengal through Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon or evening. Damaging winds and heavy downpours, may possibly lead to flooding, power outages, and damage to buildings. The outer fringe will likely start to impact coastal Odisha on Tuesday. Attention to storm surge is required.
A feeble cyclonic circulation produces thundershowers in Northeastern India on Monday. Rainfall is very likely to intensify rapidly from late Tuesday as the storm approaches.
The heaviest rainfall will be along coastal Odisha and West Bengal; 48-hours total (Tuesday and Wednesday) may reach 400 mm in some localized areas.
Kerala and the adjoining areas will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms due to a trough and wind convergence during this forecast period. Total rainfalls could excess 100 mm for the next 3 days in some localized area in Kerala.
A feeble western disturbance brings light snow and a chance of thunderstorms over western Himalayan region on Monday and Tuesday.
Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of south Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands & Andaman Sea from May 17. It will further advance into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman Sea, and Andaman Islands by Tuesday.
Maximum temperatures will be average or lower than normal across the Northern Plain during this forecast period.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala. Widespread rain and thunderstorms are predicted over Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and southern Karnataka. Widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are expected over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Tamil Nadu.
Isolated rain is possible over West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, northern Karnataka, Goa, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rain/snow is expected over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Maximum temperatures of 40 degree C or more is possible over some places of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely over coastal Odisha. Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are possible over West Bengal, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are expected over Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
