5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

Amphan, the remnant of the Super Cyclonic Storm battered Eastern India and Bangladesh, has receded to a Well Marked Low Pressure Area in northern Bangladesh on Thursday. It can still leash heavy rain of over 80 mm over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. Heavy amount of rain will likely to continue over Northeastern India this weekend and into the next week due to persistent moisture-laden southwesterly winds. Additional 100 - 250 mm (locally higher) rain totals are expected during the next 5 days, over such already saturated areas as Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh. This may cause flooding in portions of the region.

Kerala and the adjoining areas are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms due to a trough and wind convergence during this forecast period. Isolated heavy falls are possible.

A feeble western disturbance approaching north India will have limited impact over western Himalayan region from Friday night.

Gusty easterly winds and subsequent dust storms are possible over Rajasthan and Gujarat during this forecast period.

Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of south Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands & Andaman Sea between May 17- May 21.

Maximum temperatures will be 4 to 8 degree Celsius or less lower than average over northern parts of Eastern India on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, some localized areas in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh may experience over 45 degree Celsius during this forecast period.
