Kerala, Interior Karnataka to Receive Heavy Showers

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

A Cyclonic circulation is located over Northeastern India, and southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will bring humid air into the region in this forecast period, causing fairly widespread to widespread precipitation and thunderstorms. Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rains are likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Thursday and Friday, and heavy rainfall could continue over the weekend. Interior Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are also expected to witness heavy showers on Thursday.

A trough and a cyclonic circulation persists over Southern India in this period. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall are likely over Kerala and Karnataka from Thursday onwards. Heavy rains are expected to lash interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu on Thursday and Friday, and may continue over the former two over the weekend.

A western disturbance and related cyclonic circulation are located over Pakistan on Thursday morning. The disturbance will bring scattered to fairly widespread precipitation and thunderstorms over Northern India from Thursday to Sunday.

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some areas of south Bay of Bengal, most areas of Andaman Sea, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

A low pressure area and related cyclonic circulation may form over southeast Arabian Sea this weekend, and it is very likely to intensify into a depression.

Dry weather is likely over Western India on Thursday.

Heat wave conditions are likely over Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and interior Maharashtra on Thursday.

Max temperature of 45°C or more is possible over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on Thursday, and over Rajasthan on Friday.

Maximum temperatures shall be cooler than average over Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Eastern India in this period, but warmer than average over Western and Southern India.

Minimum temperatures will be cooler than normal over Northern, Eastern and North-Central India in this period, and near normal or slightly warmer than normal over Southern and Western India.

Thursday

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rains are likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy showers are also possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

Heavy rainfall is expected over interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Widespread rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Lakshadweep, while fairly widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are on the cards for Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand.

Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands may also receive fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms.

Scattered rain/snow and thunderstorm are possible over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, while just scattered rains and thunderstorms have been predicted over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka.

Isolated rainfall is possible over Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Dry weather is likely over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, interior Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Heat wave conditions are expected over Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and interior Maharashtra.

Maximum temperature of 45°C or more is possible over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, while maximum temperature of 40°C or more is likely over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Friday

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy showers are also expected over interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Widespread rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Fairly widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while just fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, interior Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms have been predicted over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka, while isolated rain is possible over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Dry weather is likely over interior Maharashtra.

Max temperature of 45°C or more is possible over Rajasthan, while that above 40°C is expected over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
