Powerful storms hit the Wichita area on Tuesday afternoon, dumping large hail and eventually heavy rain that triggered flooding.
The National Weather Service said hailstones as big as tennis balls fell furiously on the metro area, covering streets and yards in white as the storms rolled through Tuesday. No major damage was reported following the hailstorm.

The hail eventually relented, but heavy rainfall continued. East of downtown Wichita, several roads were submerged by floodwaters, and KWCH-TV reported on Twitter that a westbound stretch of U.S. Route 400 was closed early Tuesday evening.
Flooding was also reported elsewhere in eastern Wichita.
There were no immediate reports of injuries from either the large hail or the flooding.
South-central Kansas, which includes the Wichita area, is having its wettest year on record in 2019. The area's soil moisture is in the top 1% for mid-June.
