Heavy rain pummeled northwest Arkansas Sunday morning, prompting water rescues and road closures.
The heaviest rain hit Benton County and northern Washington County where the National Weather Service (NWS) said flash flooding was widespread. Rainfall totals in the area were estimated to be 5 to 7 inches with localized amounts up to 10 inches.
Some water rescues have been reported in the area, according to reports from local emergency management and local media, the NWS said.
Three people were rescued from floodwaters in Cave Spring, according to an NWS report.
Dozens of road closures have occurred in the area, according to a tweet from the Benton County government.
