People across West Leeds are coming together by holding community litter picks as part of a national Spring Clean campaign.
The campaign run by the Tidy Britain Group, aims to tackle litter pollution and make communities more pleasant places to live.
Events in West Leeds include:
Friends of Pudsey Cemetery and Chapel will be holding a Spring Clean in the cemetery grounds on Sunday, March 24 from 10.30am-1.30pm. The event will include litter picking, tidying, weeding and other activities. Meet at the main gate.
Also on Sunday there will be a general clean up of the Leeds/ Liverpool canal from Armley Mills to the Kirkstall Bridge Inn, from 12-2pm. All welcome to attend.
On Saturday come and join West Leeds Walks for the Great British Spring Clean. Volunteers will meet at Armley Leisure Centre and will be litter picking in Western Flatts and Cabbage Hill in Wortley. All welcome to join in from 10.15am.
A community clean-up will take place this Saturday at 11am on Armley Moor. There will be a free mini pizza for participants, thanks to Zeppelin Street Food.
On Sunday, 31 March there will be a ‘Cool Cardigan Road’ clean-up in Burley. Volunteers will start at the Co-op and end at the Brudenell Social Club for a well-earned beer afterwards. It runs 1.30pm-5.15pm.
On Monday, April 1 there will be a spring clean in Calverley organised by villager Anne Akers – sign up for it here.
Moving further into the future, Litter Free Pudsey will be tidying the railway ginnels from Robin Lane to Radcliffe Lane and Radcliffe Lane to New Street on Saturday 6th April- 10am to 12.30pm. And the ginnel from Asda to New Pudsey Railway Station will be cleaned on Sunday 7th April from 3pm to 4.30pm.
