WEST SEATTLE ART: In memory of George Floyd, and so many others

Three West Seattle sightings:

Above, the portrait is by Desmond Hansen, on the northwest corner of Delridge/Roxbury (thanks to Mike for the tip). Below, a window memorial in Seaview (thanks to Emily for the photo):

And Sarah just tweeted this photo from the Admiral Way Bridge over Fairmount Ravine:

Someone stenciled several names out on Alki as well. In the main section between the volleyball nets and bath house. Somewhat small, but in bright pink. I was running so didn’t catch all of them but definitely saw Tamir Rice and several others.

This made me cry…. thank you, Desmond. We need this right now and as you look at this man, find “your” way to help make change. White folks need to fix this wrong, that has been going on for too long. We must beg for forgiveness…Use your privilege as power for our brothers and sisters! ✊BLACK LIVES MATTER ❤️

Just a reminder for those who may have been out protesting the murders and racial injustice: Testing is going to be available Friday in West Seattle at SCC. With crowd exposure it will be beneficial for everyone if any infections are found so that the spread can be stopped. There is a significant false negative rate on the test, but it is most likely to catch a COVID infection within the first handful of days after symptoms start and perhaps a day or so before symptoms start. So, seek out testing as soon as you can if you get symptoms, AND about 5 days after exposure to a crowd even if you don’t have any symptoms. In healthcare outcomes also… Black Lives Matter. Here’s a link to the WSB page about the testing in West Seattle (Burien has testing also)… https://westseattleblog.com/2020/05/followup-parking-lot-covid-19-testing-starts-friday-at-south-seattle-college/

Amazing, this needs to be done in all the major cities, giant paintings for every person killed by police brutality so that the people in power have to be reminded every day what their inaction is doing.
