A freshman student-athlete at Fairview High School is already earning state titles.

Alyssa Andrea won the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division 1 Small School State Championship November 2. She ran against more than 150 students in the 5k event, finishing the race in 20:26.71.

“Alyssa worked very hard throughout the school year,” said FVHS cross-country coach Trent Walker. “She consistently finished as a top runner throughout our scheduled races at Bowie Park. She is a very dedicated and determined individual, both as a runner and as a student. We could not be happier that the state championship was won by such a deserving person. She is only a freshman this year, so we hope that she will have some more awards in her future.”

In addition to her championship title, Alyssa earned a spot on the All Mid-State Cross-Country Association Gold Team.

“She is humble and is very respectful and kind to other competitors,” said FVHS cross-country head coach Christopher Smith. “She has had a great season. Her hard work throughout the year paid off.”
