A person under the age of 18 is facing a charge of attempted murder in relation to the stabbing of a child in the city’s east end, say Windsor police.

Patrol officers responded on Sunday around 3:45 p.m. to a report of violence at a residence. They arrived at the address to find the injured child with a relative outside the home.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. The injuries — while consistent with a stabbing — were not life-threatening.

Investigators learned that the incident occurred inside the home, and the suspect was a teenage relative of the victim.

The suspect reportedly fled the area on foot after the stabbing.

Shortly after 4 p.m., Windsor police located and arrested the suspect without trouble.

The teenage suspect has been charged with attempted murder.

Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which prevents the publication of the names of accused persons who are minors, the identity of the teen allegedly involved in Sunday’s incident is not being disclosed by police.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call detectives at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830.
