MADISON (WKOW) — Now in its fifth year, the Shake the Lake community celebration is planned for Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Organizers said the Festival Foods Shake the Lake will feature live music, food and family activities on John Nolen Drive between Broom Street and Blair Street.

Gates open at 5 p.m. again this year, the organizers said.

The 2019 event will again feature two stages of national music acts, on each side of the Monona Terrace, the press release said.

Liz Kern, GM of the Madison Mallards, said at a Wednesday news conference that there will be several new features for kids at Law Park, including a Curiosity Camp and the petting zoo.

The event will conclude with Wisconsin’s largest fireworks display, the Festival Foods Fireworks show, starting at 10 p.m. Reeseville, Wisconsin-based Spectrum Pyrotechnics, will conduct the fireworks show.

Patrons will be allowed to bring in one 20-ounce, factory sealed water bottle, and there will be filling stations inside the event area.

The main entry point will be on the Blair Street side and a second entry point on Broom Street.

The bike path between Blair and Broom streets will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Bike parking will be available in the tunnels under Monona Terrace. Blankets and umbrellas will be allowed, but no tents.

Dane County will have patrols out on Lake Monona during the event.

The fireworks will be streamed by WKOW on Facebook Live HERE.
