HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Hartford man is in the Van Buren County Jail after operating a boat with a blood alcohol level over 2 times the legal limit.
Deputies were conducting a routine patrol of Rush Lake in Hartford Township just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday when they stopped a boat that was towing a person with 3 other people on board after regulated hours.
The operator was arrested for operating with a person in tow after hours and for being under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level between 0.20 and 0.21.
The legal limit on the water is .08.
The boat was turned over to his friend who was not under the influence.
The boat operator’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
