STAFF at Worcester Bosch handed over donations from its 1,200 employees to boost the city’s Foodbank.

According to Worcester Foodbank, three areas in Worcester are in the top 10 per cent most deprived areas in England and 17 per cent of children estimated to live in poverty.

Referrals to foodbank continue to increase at an alarming rate and are already 40 per cent higher than they were at the same time last year, when the charity fed a record number of people.

Manager Grahame Lucas, said: “We’re very grateful to Worcester Bosch for its support at a time when we are seeing unprecedented levels of referrals to our centre.

“The local community has sustained us through some challenging times and we need people and businesses to dig deep again and help us weather the storm.”

Sue Pennington, Worcester Bosch corporate communications manager, said: “We heard the foodbank was is in need of contributions, so we put some boiler boxes in our employee entrances and our kind-hearted colleagues put items for the foodbank in there.”

The volunteer-led organisation, Worcester Foodbank, offers food to its community, having provided almost 7,000 emergency food parcels to hungry locals in 2018 and 2019.
