COVINGTON, Tenn. — Authorities in Covington are investigating following a triple shooting Wednesday night.

According to The Leader, a home on North College was struck multiple times around 9 p.m. sending three people to Baptist-Tipton Hospital. They said all of the victims are expected to be okay.

One of the victims, John Mason, said he and his teenage son were getting ready to play in a spades game tournament at his house around 9 p.m. when bullets started flying. He was shot in the shoulder while his son was shot in the knee.

“All I heard was a lot of pow, pow, pow, pow. That’s all I kept hearing,” Mason said. “I heard something come through the window and when it hit me, it turned my whole shoulder. I knew right then and there I got hit.”

He said he heard at least 25 shots, and his house was covered in bullet holes.

“It’s getting rough around here in Covington,” Mason said.

He said he believes his home was targeted because the shooter were looking for someone as retaliation for another shooting last week. However, he said that person doesn’t even live inside his home.

“I’m innocent. My son is. We both got hit. It’s crazy. I’m finna get the hell away from here. That’s what I’m finna do,” he said.

Mason and his neighbors’ houses are now splattered with bullet holes. “It was a whole bunch of shots. There was a lot of them,” neighbor Tyrone Williamson said.

He says it’s not the first time he’s heard shots in the area, but he certainly wishes it’d be the last.

Mason says his son is recovering at Le Bonheur.
