It’s time for green revolutionaries to admit defeat

You can’t accuse the facile foes of fossil fuels of lacking energy. Knowledge or logic or honesty, yes. Energy, no. Whether it’s generated by lots of wind or the product of biomass hysteria, they’ve got plenty of energy. They never give up.

They were in their glory during the Obama years, waging war at taxpayer expense on coal and other abundant, affordable, reliable, and remarkably clean energy sources in favor of fanciful fuels that don’t exist, cost too much, don’t work, or cause massive (never-to-be-acknowledged) damage to landscapes and wildlife.

The 2016 election was their Gettysburg, but they refused to admit defeat, refused to surrender, and kept fighting on as they lost battle after battle. They dug in, hunkered down, and resisted, throwing up obstacles against long-overdue reform. Embedded bureaucrats left over from the previous administration, lawless legislators, and left-leaning lawfare warriors mounted an organized campaign of obstruction and sabotage.

They’ve lost the war, but the skirmishes continue. Leading a coalition of like-minded AGs, New York Attorney General Letitia James recently launched a legal challenge to the new Affordable Clean Energy rule that replaced the tyrannical Clean Power Plan.

“The science is indisputable,” James asserted, as if constant disputation and revision were not the essence of science. “Ice caps are melting,” she affirmed, incorrectly. “Sea levels are rising,” she warned, which they’re not. “Weather is becoming more and more extreme,” she insisted, without “indisputable” evidence to support the claim (because there is none).

Democratic U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland introduced a resolution just last week to express congressional disapproval of the new rule, but it failed by a vote of 41-53.

“The U.S. Senate did a great service to our nation by rejecting this radical attack on West Virginia coal jobs,” said West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey after the vote was cast. “The Senate’s vote repudiates yet another effort to revive the war on coal, which is really a war on West Virginia, family budgets, and affordable energy.”

Give up, green goblins. You’ve lost.
